After developer Obsidian confirmed it’s providing free PS5 upgrades to the Spacer’s Choice Edition of The Outer Worlds for PS4 owners starting yesterday, it turns out the process isn’t nearly as straightforward as it seemed. What owners of the base PS4 and Xbox One versions were told would be free has now turned into a paid upgrade.
This is due to mixed messaging from the studio.
At the start of this month, Obsidian announced that, alongside some gameplay updates and technical tweaks, it would be delisting the base version of the RPG.
