Protesters celebrate resignation of India’s education minister

Protesters in India are celebrating after the resignation of the country’s education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.

Tens of thousands of young people had been demonstrating in Delhi, demanding Pradhan resign after exam paper leaks and testing irregularities.

Now Pradhan has resigned, the protests organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) have been called off.

CJP is a national movement born out of a satirical campaign, rather than an actual party, and has faced heavy police crackdowns.
