At BlizzCon 2026, I was sitting in on a press conference about Diablo 5 with a number of the game’s design leads. Near the end, a question was asked about what platforms the game would be available on, since none had been announced alongside the game’s reveal. Game director Joe Shely replied, saying they had nothing to announce, but that they “want as many people to be able to play Diablo 5 as possible.”
Then, something odd happened. From the corner of the room, one of the PR/comms folks (I couldn’t see who from where I was sitting), loudly whispered,
We don’t just report the news, we deliver it through the voices of multiple expert staff writers, each selected to broaden our scope and deepen our storytelling.
